If this is your first year celebrating Christmas with your little one, congratulations! It’s one way you’ll want to build as many memories as possible, and while there are many things to love about Christmas, there are also many things to love about Christmas when children are involved. Having babies means getting that Christmas magic back that you may have lost in the mess since you were a child.
You’ll be able to get back traditions such as Santa Claus, choosing that first baby Christmas outfit, and you’ll be able to start putting together special ways that you can celebrate your baby’s first Christmas as a family for the first time. Break out the camera, because our suggestions below are going to help you to keep your Christmas with your baby in your heart forever.
- Make some Christmas ornaments. It’s a traditional way to offer grandparents, especially a wonderful Christmas gift from your family. It’s so easy to forget how little your baby is going to be at this time, and in a few years when you break out those decorations again, you’re going to see those tiny hands and footprints and you’re going to be brought back to this moment. You want to make sure that it’s a good moment, so making salt dough decorations with your baby’s hand and footprint is a great way to commemorate their first Christmas. You’ll be able to put those footprints on the tree every single year, and the grandparents will always be able to bring out their decorations to be added to their tree. It’s a soft and sentimental way to remember the first time your baby experienced Christmas.
- Book a family photo shoot. It’s not something as overdone as you think it is! Family photo shoots are a wonderful experience for everybody, but having those pictures up on the walls throughout the Christmas season means that they become a part of your Christmas decorations set. It’s the perfect time for a photo tradition to begin, and each year you’ll be able to see your children grow in those photographs with the outfits that you’ve chosen.
- Matching pyjamas. A wonderful tradition for your baby’s first Christmas is to get matching family pyjamas. This is also a tradition that you can carry from year to year, and it’s going to make for some hilarious family photos. You don’t have to be particularly interested in matching pyjamas in general, but Christmas is always an exception, isn’t it?
- A Christmas bubble. Speaking of decorations on the tree, how about a Christmas bauble for something to commemorate your baby’s first Christmas? Whether you buy one that displays the year they were born, or you buy one with their name on it, you can buy specific Christmas baubles that indicate that this is their first ever Christmas. You can hang this on the tree every single year and you’ll be able to remember this moment.
Christmas is a time for family and these traditions can be a wonderful way to have fun!
