We get it, we’re mamas, and we miss being able to sit down with both hands free to read a book too. Thank goodness for podcasts and audio books, the ultimate hands free content! Here we’ve rounded up some of our current favourites – all podcasts we’d recommend to a friend (that’s you!).
When I say that I laughed and cried whilst listening to Dying for Sex from Wondery, I am not joking.
“Following Molly’s diagnosis with stage IV breast cancer, she decides to do something bold: she leaves her unhappy marriage and embarks on a series of sexual adventures to help her feel alive. She shares the funniest and most touching details with her closest friend, host Nikki Boyer. As they peel back the layers, we leave that Molly isn’t just grappling with breast cancer: she’s also dealing with some trauma from her past. Along the journey, the friends explore bigger themes that affect us all — like healing, forgiveness and what do we do with the time we have left…Dying for Sex is a six-part series about friendship, sex and love, and overcoming adversity.”
When we asked the lovely ladies at TMC what podcast they’d recommend to a friend, My Dad Wrote a Porno scored highly: “literally the funniest thing I’ve ever listened to!”.
“Imagine if your Dad wrote a dirty book. Most people would try to ignore it and pretend it had never happened – but not Jamie Morton. Instead, he’s decided to read it to the world in this award-winning comedy podcast. With the help of his friends, James Cooper and Alice Levine, Jamie will be reading a chapter each episode and discovering more about his father than he ever bargained for.”
“Two leading UK photographers, Vicki Knights and Eddie Judd, chat about what it’s like to run a photography business today. Including interviews with inspiring guests, you’ll be enmtertained, informed and also pick up some business tips along the way.
The interviews take place in person & are often funny, sometimes vulnerable & always authentic.”
“In ‘Made By Mammas: The Podcast’, TV Presenter & Radio Broadcaster Zoe Hardman combined with Georgia Dayton bring their mummy blog to life as they discuss the brands they love, the products they swear by, and the experience they’ve been through during the first years of motherhood. Each episode sees Zoe and Georgia chat to a famous face or an expert in their field on a host of topics ranging from pregnancy to sleep to activities to do with little ones, and do much more! Your go-to for non-judgemental advice, support and a bit of love.”
I’m waiting for Laura and Jeremy to have kids and start their new podcast, ‘Wild ‘Til 7pm (right after the kids’ bedtime routine)’ haha.
“What do you get when a DIY Influencer dates an ex-frat-president tech mogul? Honestly, we’re not really sure either, but we’re all about to find out together. Hosted by Lauren Riihimaki (LaurDIY) and boyfriend, Jeremy Lewis, Wild ‘Til 9 is about relationships, spotting the red flags and giving the green lights, and the lifestyle in which this polar opposite couple found themselves. Things about to get wild…but only until 9pm.”
When OG Bloggers, sister duo Emma and Elsie, launched their podcast, I was immediately onboard. A lover over their blog and apps for years, the podcast is another look inside the business savvy and creative pair.
“Elsie + Emma are sisters and co-founders of the top DIY blog – A Beautiful Mess. They have written over seven thousand blog posts, so it seemed like a good time to start a podcast! The sisters have a lot to say on everything from home and DIY to family life and business.”
Very quick story time – our babe went through a phase where he absolutely hated the car (most kids do!). Because of this, I started sitting in the back seat next to him to help him stay settled, the dog got the front passenger seat and hubby would drive us (sometimes we mixed it up and I drove / hubby sat in the back with the baby). It becomes really hard to chat whilst sitting in that kind of arrangement! So, to keep us entertained, awake and have background noise for the tiny human that wasn’t going to in turn lull us to sleep, we started listening to podcasts. Friday Night Comedy, including The Now Show and The News Quiz is one of our favourites! News + Comedy = A Winner. So, definitely a podcast we’d recommend to a friend!
“Topical panel quiz show, taking its questions from the week’s news stories.”

Rounding off this collection of podcasts we’d recommend to a friend with one recommended by my husband. This is his go-to podcast to listen to whilst cooking dinner or pottering around the house. I often hear him chuckling away to the parenting chat!
